I received my master's degree in electrical engineering in 1996 and have been working at Certec since the spring of 1995. My main area of interest is the interaction with haptic and sound interfaces, especially for people with visual impairments. I am currently working in two projects (2009), a national project which focuses on a stationary audio-haptic solution for use in school work (HIPP), and an EU project that deals with making mainstream mobile navigation systems more accessible (HaptiMap).
Interfaces with sound and haptics
My research concentrates on the combination of haptic and sound interfaces for
blind persons. Since 1997 I have been a member of Certec's Haptic Group. The research
is, to a great deal, centered on the PHANToM, a haptic computer device and
interface which
makes it possible to feel virtual objects. My focus is on interfaces based on a
combination of sound and touch interaction, especially for blind computer users.
My PhD thesis, which I defended in 2008, is entitled "User-Centered
Design of Non-Visual Audio-Haptics".

Currently, I have no major teaching responsibilities. My time is spent on research and the above mentioned projects.
